Hi Michele

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, but I use a filing
system for my papers, based on ring binders. I have a "series" for each
ancestral line, and if you are not limited by colour coding, could be 4,
8, 16 or in fact any number of lines, just splitting as necessary. In
each ancestral line I have a section in the folder for each person on my
line, each section numbered by lineage number, based on me = 1 (or my
daughter = 1 for the series that includes my grand-daughter). Within
each section I then number by bloodline for descendants (1 - eldest
child then 1, 1 = eldest child's eldest child etc) and I keep them in
sequence eg 1 / 1, 1 / 1, 2 / 1, 3 / 1, 3, 5 / 1, 4 / 2 / 2, 1 etc
(using only the numbers I need, and fill in the gaps later if
necessary). This gives me all my cousins etc. However it does not work
for the cousin's in-laws etc - I just keep all that stuff with the
relevant cousin.

Cheers, Brett
