I'm concerned about the reliability of flash drives. Maybe they're
made better than they used to be but they're still easy to lose or
have stolen. Plus with those "you get what you pay for". I use them
only for transporting data, not for backup.

A good external USB hard drive is more reliable.

Plus it's good to have backup off-site in case a disaster hits your
home. Burn a CD or DVD and stick it in your safe-deposit box or share
a couple of them with trusted familiy or friends so you have other
copies available. Or use cloud backup, if you trust your backups to
someone else's server <g>
