Before merging with your data, make gedcom of that branch from your stuff. Send
to them. When merging the 'new' stuff, there is an option to mass add a source
to all downloads. I always download a batch to a temp file, fix place names the
way I like them.Rich in LA CA

Subject: [LegacyUG] Combining Files With Sources

Hi everyone.  My cousin has given me a gedcom file on my dad's side of
the family which he has researched and it has quite a bit of information
I lacked.  However, I also have information that he does not have and I
intend on merging the two files together.

The question is this:  I would like to give him credit for his research
(however, it would have been better to have the actual sources he used,
but I will just have reference his name because he did not cite the
specific sources).   I also want to include my source information when I
combine the files.

I do NOT want to populate every source field, just the ones that have
information.  Is there an easy way to combine these files and include
his name for the things he contributed and my name and sources for the
things I contributed?

Thanks!
