Yes, it did make sense, but I'm afraid it will be too complicated with all the splits and reunions, buying and selling both within and outside the family. I guess the solution will be to just make a graphic chart manually? Or maybe make a web page map with overlaid imagemap with all the split parts and families connected to each one, as well as a timeline? This should be viewable inside TNG, either directly as a history or as an iframe.
