Hi All, This is probably of more interest to the UK members, since it refers specifically to documents relating to UK marriages.
I have images of the Allegation & Bond taken out by an ancestor of mine in 1766. The Allegation is what was sworn by the groom in order to obtain a Marriage License that enabled him to marry is intended bride. The License was, of course, handed to the church in which the marriage took place and no longer exists, having been 'converted' into the appropriate entry in the Marriage Register. The Bond was taken out in order to impress on the groom that what he was proposing was viewed as a serious business by the ecclesiastical authorities. In this, he undertakes to pay the Bishop 200GBP if he fails to marry the girl!. A formality, I'm sure, but nevertheless that is what the sum mentioned is. My questions are: Where is the SourceWriter template for the Allegation? And, what template should I use for the Bond?
