Elizabeth,

I "think" what you are seeing as the second copy is the one in your sent
mail plus the returned email from the list when it distributes your
message. Most email programs put sent mail into a separate folder so it
does not show in the inbox. Gmail does not seem to segregate sent and
incoming messages.
