Archives.com and Find My Past have teamed together with FamilySearch to index the 1940 census and to keep it free in perpetuity. FamilySearch has pledged their indexers to have the entire census, all 132+ million people, in six months. They expect to have the first images available to index by noon on April 2nd, and the first state posted within a week.
