No problem, Marilyn, there are times when I doubt my own sanity. Fortunately as
yet they have not run too close together.

Thanks, Ron. this is exactly what I do with the 2 other family files on Legacy
that do NOT have this problem. I just re-tested and it still works, just not on
my newly-created family file. WITH sourcing thrown in, too, clipboards and all.
I even create new sources on the fly while adding a new individual.

I sent Sherry the backup so we'll see what happens. Thanks again for letting me
know I'm not (completely) bonkers!

  Sherry,

If I have understood the initial problem correctly, then it is possible to
do as Marilyn suggests, as I have said it is a technique which I have used
many times - and am just getting ready to test again.

If you go to the Individual's Information Screen and add the Vital Events,
you can then go to the Events, without saving, and click the Add Button, now
add, say a Residence Event, then again without saving, click the Add Another
Button and add the details for, say, occupation. Then use all the Save
buttons to exit. All these details should be preserved - forgot to mention,
I use the Source and Event clipboards, as appropriate, for sourcing.
