I have had that happen to me in the past from time to time (not with this build yet). I will open the split screen but it doesn't give the option of opening another file but rather just puts two of the same file on the two panes. All I had to do was close the split screen and then try it again then it would ask me about opening another file. I would say this has happened to me maybe 5 or 6 times? I didn't worry much about it because like I said, once I closed it and reopened it, it worked fine.
