Nick,

The technique which you describe is for use in web pages and hence the links
will only show up if displayed in a web page; during the conversion process
to HTML Legacy converts the double-chevrons (which are the symbols you are
talking about) to the HTML format. So, if you are thinking that the links
can be made "alive” within the Legacy program then I have to disappoint you.

Normally, as Larry said, the web page would not be the Source but the
Repository from which you obtained the Source Details. However the key-board
generators for the chevrons are Alt+174 and Alt+175 (use the number pad) –
« ». The full syntax for the URL of my website would be «a
href=”http://fergys.co.uk/”»
My website«/a», but don’t expect this to work from this post - the one below
will!

Subject: [LegacyUG] CREATING LINKS TO WEB SITES AS A SOURCE

Hi, I know I'll probably be using the web as a source of info &, when
entering a particular site as a Master source, would like to record the
address as a link vs a copy that the family tree viewer has to cut & paste.
The Help talks about the 2 special characters to enter before & after the
address but, when I do, the address doesn't turn "blue" or the cursor become
a hand, so I don't think I'm doing it correctly.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Nick.
