I created a "Witness" event. I use it for the traditional marriage witnesses, or witnesses to a will; but also for anyone connected to an event, but not the subject; e.g., the minister who married a couple; the attendees of my mother's 100th birthday dinner; the person who provided the information for a death certificate; godparents. Even if the individual isn't in my database, if he appears enough times in various events, I will add him as an unlinked individual and include the events that show him connected to persons in the database.
