Suzie, I understand that there is a problem with the alternate names being published when an individual is set to “Private”. This is currently being worked on.

I went to the private setting and selected to omit the alternate names, and that did give me the look for this GEDCOM. So this does take care of my immediate need. I also ran the Check/Repair option, just in case. I don’t know yet whether the repair gives me the option to not omit the alternate names, yet still places the main record name on the gedcom. Thanks for your suggestions. What type of GEDCOM are you creating (eg. GEDCOM 5.5), are you sure that you have not set yourself to “Private” (in which case the alt name should not appear – but you never know). Have you looked at the settings included in the transfer boxes (use the “Customise” Button)? If all else fails try a File Maintenance>Check/Repair, which may help. The more details as to what you are doing the better, please. I cannot find a setting in Legacy to correct this. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? For instance, I show ‘Suzie’ for me in the alternate name location, but I show Alice Sue on the original page of my record-my legal name. Only Suzie gets exported to my gedcom file. So even my surname is missing from the export. This happened in every instance where I had a nickname or alternate name for a record.
