I assumed this question was in response to my tip to add JavaScript to
the Legacy produced web pages. However, if this is a more generic
question about support for scripts like cgi, asp, sql, php, etc.  Then
I agree with the others that these are restricted.  In a very
simplistic sense, all of these require server side support to
process/execute them.  JavaScript is executed on the client side in
the user's browser, so something completely different (IMO anyway).

I will at least determine if my JavaScript trick will work at Rootsweb
when I get back.
