First, in Legacy, click Options>Customize>Other>Clear All User IDs because they
will be used in the next step.
Use Ltools and then "Set Special User IDs.  Enter the RIN for the person for
which you hope to count descendants.  Click "Fill descendant's User IDs with
Text + Henry Number".  Put "HN" in the Text field.  Check "Exclude
Non-Biological Relationships" if you only want the blood line descendants and
not spouses, adoptions, etc.  Click "Run".  Now back in Legacy, search for
UserID containing "HN" under Search>Detailed Search...and note the number of
records found.
Similar method can be used for ancestor counts by selecting "Fill ancestor's
User IDs with Text + Ahnentafel number".

Ltools may be acquired at http://zippersoftware.com/wp/ltools/download-ltools/
and then you will have to get the deluxe version (step 3) to use the above
User IDs tools.
A by-product of the above that I have used is to identify all individuals in
the Legacy database who married a blood relative.  Quite a few of them did not
know they were so closely related.  Makes for interesting conversation at the
family reunion.

Hello,

I am trying to find where in Legacy I can get the number of descendants for
an individual.
The only place I see (through tagging) adds the spouses to the number which
I don’t want.

Is it possible?

Sebastien
