Yes, I definitely wouldn't keep anything in Dropbox that you could lose for whatever reason. I used to and changed my mind about it. Now I only keep my shared folders and portable apps there. But I also backup My Dropbox to my external hard-drives.
Dropbox, by the way, is a more complicated way of using Legacy than say, SugarSync, where you don't have to move your files from their original locations. I don't know if they have also have a time limit for keeping your files, but if they do, your originals are still on your pc where you first installed them. SugarSync is only a backup and may be also there for the convenience of syncing to another computer. In any case, if your files disappeared from SugarSync they'd still be on both your computers. I don't use cloud services for backup. For that I use external hard-drives. As convenient as the cloud can be I don't like the thought of someone else having access to and control over my personal files. So I only use them for collaboration as needed. --- JL Beeken JLog - simple computer technology for genealogists http://www.jgen.ws/jlog/ On 8/8/2012 7:32 PM, Ian GARDENER wrote: > Hi, > > I currently have all my legacy files, both multimedia & data, in my > dropbox. > > I have also just become aware that if I don’t access my dropbox for 90 > days, the dropbox people may > > delete my files from their server.
