Ron's given you some excellent advice since my last post - you should pay attention to what he says - he's good at this stuff. The other point I wanted to make was that you have another great tool at your fingertips to help you find out about the things you're unsure about - this mailing list. If you're wondering what something in Legacy means, or how to do something, post here and ask us about it. This is an international forum, and no matter what the time of day there is bound to be someone checking their mail and may be able to reply. If not, it won't be long before someone can. For sharing your Legacy file between computers there's more than one way you can approach it (as there usually is with Legacy!)... My preference is to save the backup to a Dropbox folder. When I want to switch to a different machine to the one I normally use, I restore the latest backup to that machine. If I did any work on it while I'm on this alternate computer, I would then backup to Dropbox again, and then restore that backup on the other machine. I tend not to do that often, usually I only want to look something up on the other machine while I'm away from the 'normal' one. You could also copy the files associated with your family tree to a memory stick and transfer them that way. Or if your computers are networked you could probably do something with that - beyond my experience at the moment, but no doubt possible. Whatever method you use, be aware of any implications (such as forgetting which machine has the current version of your file) and work to prevent any failings in that department. Hope this helps. :-) Kind Regards, Wendy Howard New Zealand Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
