Put the nickname in quotes eg. Leslie “Sammy” James Gardener. When printing reports etc. you are given the option of using the name in quotes when the person is referred to and also of removing the quotes (they are not mutually exclusive). You could also have for example William Arthur “Arthur” Ferguson for when a person uses a second name rather than the first.
Thank you so much for this, I too have relatives with nicknames and this works great. I guess you could also use it for the derivative of a name, such as James “Jim”, Henry “Hank” etc. J Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
