Give the poor guy a break. His Yahoo account was hijacked on the
server and spams were sent out to everyone in his contact list.

This is the fourth email of this type I've received today from
someoine with a Yahoo account so some guy's having a fun day....

Richard needs to change his password.  When it happened to me a couple
years ago, I also removed all the contacts from my contacts list and
put them in the body of a draft email. Not as convenient, but I don't
have to worry about anyone doing this to my Yahoo account again!
