Sherry, Excel might have problems before 1901 but the *free* OpenOffice does not - which must go to show something :-)

Like the Name LIst, it can only be sorted by #, Given and Surname. You can save the Index Report (click on the Print button in the Name List) as csv but.... Excel doesn't know what to do with dates prior to 1901 so you won't get a good sort by dates. GenViewer, an add-on program which we sell, does sort by column. You might want to take a look at that. It's an *awesome* viewer which will read the FDB file (as well as several other genealogy file types) and allows you to do some great searches, sorts and has some basic report printing features. My favorite feature is the "self-viewing gedcom", which allows you to create a file that has a run-time of GenViewer so you can view the file on any computer without installing any programs.
