Go to the Locations>Options>Expand Contract Locations and then choose the 
locations you want to work with.

I take it there's not an easy way to change all references to a country, eg 
Canada, and make all the short forms unified to CA at the same time.  Same with 
provinces, states, shires, etc.  Do you have to go through each reference, 
check the short forms and do them one at a time?

  Have you checked (i.e., edited) the individual locations to be sure you have 
what you want in the "Short Location Name" field?

    It sounds like you need to merge duplicate locations. On the bottom you
    will find Combine, and when you click on it the command will change to
