Richard, Legacy programmers, in my view quite rightly, never releases details of its future intentions, not even to their own staff.
You may like to look at Ltools at http://zippersoftware.com/wp/ltools/download-ltools/ which for pedigree pages will clean up the code and convert it to CSS, thus giving many more options for personalisation.
