What, my father wasn't the sweet loving kind man the obit said he was? :-) One more thing to remember about obits...the so-called facts were supplied by well-meaning relatives during a time of great emotional stress. And the surviving spouse may not have been involved in supplying the facts, but rather some relative from out-of-town who is half-guessing at each statement. Think of a typical résumé, and that's about on an equal low level of the validity of truth and accuracy. (At least my résumés were.)
