In the genealogy directory, I have a Documents sub-directory and a Photos sub-directory. I keep all scans, PDF's, TIFF's etc, in that set of directories. When I have completed my editing of scanned photos, I use the editing software to create a 300 DPI JPG file. I then copy this file to the Legacy Photo directory. All true documents are scanned as PDF's and stored in that format.
In short, all original files are kept in the genealogy set of directories. The Legacy directories have copies suitable for display on web pages.
