My good god! I am curious, how far back in time do 40 generations go? I have
16 "bold" generations going back to 1470 in Europe.

Good advice. I go back more than 40 generations in several lines. You do have
to go to yourself and click on Tools any time you add ancestors. I set direct
line, set relationships, apply ancestor colors, abd retag any ancestral tags,
It's not automatic.

I have one line that goes back 13 generations and the direct line is still
bolded and the relationships still show.

Maybe go back and reset them again but highlighting yourself, clicking on
"Tools", then "Set Relationships", then "Set Relationships" again.

Is there a limit to how far back this goes? I

In one line, the bolding stops after the 8th generation -- also stops showing
relationship.
