Brian, There is another option, but it does require more work - but not 3000 links!
Fortunately all you file names are different. Select one image from each folder and find it in your Legacy file (or the other way round if more convenient). Having chosen the image you will be offered various choices of finding it, select to do it yourself, go to the image and open it. This will attach every image in that folder.
