Many thanks John, that fixed the problem, what I don't understand is why it has 
just started doing that, how could the setting change after all this time, 
weird.........

  Sorry about the subject line but I could not think of a better way or wording 
it.

  When I am entering data for a new person, once I have entered the Birth info, 
I then click on the plus sign and then click on Birth Notes. I then enter the 
info there, click on Save then in the Individuals Window I click on Save.
  Then the Notes window for that individual opens which I then have to click on 
Cancel or Save to close it, this has never happened previous.
  I would appreciate any thoughts as to why this is now happening and what do I 
do to stop it happening in the future.
  My OS is XP Pro with SP3 and I my version of Legacy is  7.5.0.219
