Brian, I also think that is the next step - meaning I still can't think of an alternative.
I have come across the problem with the Install.log file either being missing or faulty before. Try doing a full install of Legacy from the web, on top of your current installation, hopefully this will give you a new install.log file. Then try to uninstall again.
