My files are also saved to Dropbox, but I don't work in Dropbox on either of them, for fear of messing things up. M

Ditto for me Cathy, using Dropbox. Against a highly unlikely simultaneous failure of my computer and Drobox,  I still regularly do back ups to another drive as well.

Marianne,

I too have my desktop running Windows 7 and my netbook running Windows XP.  But I use Dropbox to sychronize my Legacy database between the two computers.  I've had no problems running Legacy on the two different operating systems.

Hi – I got a new PC in January, running Windows 7.  This is my primary place for all things Legacy.

I also have a netbook that I only use when I travel.  The netbook still uses Windows XP.

If I want to upload my Family File from my PC to the netbook will there be any problems because the operating systems are different?

When I want to do this, I save my PC database to a flash drive, then upload that to the netbook, so I have the latest information when I travel.

I also use the netbook to add information to the database after I’ve done my research.  Then I would save those changes to the flashdrive and upload the latest file to my PC on my return.

So I’m worried about problems going in both directions.

I also have the Families app for my Kindle Fire, which is great if all I want to do is see my Family File, but it’s too hard to enter data on the Fire.

Marianne
