Cheryl,

I have not used PAF, so I cannot make a direct comparison.

The important thing to understand is that with Legacy one can in effect make
customised searches by combining the various searches and tagging. These are
all found under Search>Find. Commonly this may involve the use of Detailed
search as the final step. For example, under the Miscellaneous tab all
individuals with no parents could be tagged with, say Tag 1 and subsequently
in the Detailed search one can search for all individuals with Tag 1 equal
to tagged AND on row 2 all individuals whose birth date is before 1800. This
would give all those born before 1860 whose parents are not known.

For people with no birth date the Miscellaneous Information enable one to
tag all those with no birthdate. Then as above enter this in row 1 of the
detailed search then AND row 2 born after 31 Dec 1860.

Remember also that the last box on the detailed search rows can be left
blank, so not equal to "blank" can be used.

I think that by playing around with these options you will soon get the
general idea, and we will be willing to help with the specifics.

Subject: [LegacyUG] search list for no bd but d aft ?

I guess I'm too used to using PAF, but I can't figure a way
to get a list of all the people who died after 1860 who have
no birthdates.

The Missing Info tab gives me people who have neither bd nor
dd but whose children are born in the late 1700s as well as
those who meet my criteria.

The other tabs I don't see a "does not exist" option or
anything that works (for me) like that.

Presumably, it's something I'm doing or not-doing, so would
one of you tell me what it is?

Thanks!

Cheryl
