I think the answer is ‘sort of’. I believe Family Tree still has the ability to accept a GEDCOM. Although I haven’t done it, I believe uploading a GEDCOM now goes through an intermediate step where it’s matched to existing Family Tree records and you get the option to add those not yet in Family Tree. Not sure whether it updates info on those persons that already exist. Of course, this can be done from any program that can produce a GEDCOM, there’s nothing specific to Legacy or it’s new version.
With respect to the interface from Legacy to Family Tree, we don’t know how it works as they have not yet implemented the Family Tree API. However, I can say that Roots Magic has implemented the new API and it seems to work the same way as the old “NewFamilySearch” API, i.e. sharing data one person at a time. I guess we will find out when either a 7.5 update, or the new version 8 is released. However, now I can't seem to find where I thought I had read this. Does anyone know if bulk uploads from Legacy to Family Search Family Tree is possible in V8? -- Cliff Gittens Gittens One-name Study Surrey, BC, Canada www.gittensfamily.ca Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com).
