Very important...don't ever rename an individual to be some other person like you described to fix brothers. All the events, sources, pictures, etc. will still be connected to the individual record but even more critical is the intellishare value which does not show on screen but uniquely identifies the individual record and is used to collaborate with others who may have a copy of your file.
To fix the wrong marriage as you mentioned, do not remove the marriage link because that does delete the marriage record. If you just right-click on the wife that is wrong and "unlink from husband" then the marriage record will remain along with any children that were connected to it. Then just add the correct wife to the marriage. Similar for wrong husband. I added a wife and, therefore, a marriage to the wrong brother. I added a marriage registration event and then realised what I had done. If I unlink the husband from the wife, the marriage disappears and I have to re-enter everything. Is there an easy way to say "Use this man as the husband, rather than that one"? I thought about renaming the brothers, but then I'd have to change all their details, which is more work than redoing the marriage. Any advice would be appreciated.
