I did this, and the "phantom" in the Show List is still there.  There are two 
names in the List, and one of them does have a citation to this Master Source, 
but the other does not.
I'm not sure this is going to be an actual problem for me, but I would rather 
fix it and not have to remember in a few months what's up with this one.

Did you try running File > File Maintenance > Check/Repair after doing a backup 
(File > Backup Family File) ?
