Ron,

When you click on a location, the program tries to find it
geographically.  It goes into "thinking" mode (in my case), the little
circle goes round and round until it is done.  Then you can click to
edit or whatever else you need to do.  Then you click on the redundant
location you want to combine and again it's "thinking".  Finds the same
information it did on the first location.  Once it stops, then you can
combine.

Also, the program sometimes comes up with some weird connection, such as
a location in Ontario, Canada somehow gets connected to a location in
the USA.  As far as I know they are still part of Canada even though
they don't always act like it (I'm in the west).  What it does to some
English locations is sometimes quite laughable.
