Thanks for your suggestions Kurt. As far as I can tell there were no HTML codes as I had only copied a paragraph ot two from one of my own word documents which was in Calibri font, size 11. The rest had been typed directly into the Research Notes and on screen appeared completely normal. It was only on print preview that I noticed it.
I decided to put all the bad text into italics to mark it and retyped it before deleting. It was interesting that the odd size extended to the blank lines above and below so have deleted those blanks too. Back to normal now.
