I am looking forward to new features in Legacy version 8, especially Shared Events. From what I understand this feature will allow me to record events in a manner similar to how I have used Witness Events in TMG. Due to the implementation of this new feature, I hope to migrate my database from TMG to Legacy version 8. Unfortunately, Legacy version 8 will not support direct import of TMG databases and I will have to rely upon GEDCOM. Since GEDCOM isn't events-oriented, significant data and/or relationships loss should be expected. In preliminary tests I have noticed that TMG does not export Witness Events to GEDCOM. This shouldn't be surprising since GEDCOM does not support the concept of events, let alone multi-party events? I hope that there are others in this forum who have migrated from TMG to Legacy, who can help me by identifying the various pitfalls experienced during their migration and sharing successful work around strategies.
