Also, if you go back to the 1950's and before, the "Today" postal codes were nowhere to be seen. Remember that the 2 letter postal codes are NOT abbreviations for the States and countries. Since we are NOT mailing data to these addresses, why are we using these codes?
I live in an unincorporated area of a County with a mailing address linked to some post office in a nearby city. The house number, street are a county address based on a system that was started in what is now a very large city, 20 miles away. There several cities between here and the starting point of the street address.
