Figures. Everything seemed to be working fine yesterday. Today I got an "Error 91: Object variable or With block variable not set." I had to manually remove Legacy 7.5 because it would not uninstall. Then I opened Legacy 8 and played with some of the new features but did not change any information in the open database. I closed Legacy and received the first "Error 91 . . ." message during the close. I tried to open the same database again, same error message opening the file. Could not open the file. Legacy will not open ANY database. Tried to uninstall Legacy 8 through the control panel but it would not uninstall. Deleted the Legacy 8 folder from Program Files (x86) and reinstalled through the download. Legacy still won't open and I still get the Error 91 message each time - no matter which database I try to open. Then I tried System Restore and the entire fiasco started all over again.
The Legacy help on the website does not cover Error 91 for Legacy 8 so I tried adapting the Legacy 7 instructions. No change. Of course I can't open Legacy at all so I can't perform Check/Repair. This is on a Win7 Pro 64-bit custom-built desktop with more than enough hard drive space and RAM. I'm using Legacy 8 Deluxe. I've tried turning off all anti-virus, firewall, backup and sync programs. Tried restarting, shutting down and turning back on, replacing the database with a backup copy - nothing changes. I've tried at least 5 different databases. None open and I get the same Error 91 message each time. Everything works just fine on my Win8 convertible tablet so I don't think it's the database files. I'm thinking I messed up something big time when I manually removed either Legacy 7.5 or Legacy 8 or both. But it could also be the software gremlins at work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. While I love my tablet, it's a pain to really work on my genealogy on it.
