With regards to your first question, I don't think there is an easy way.

For a given person and a given ancestor (or vice versa) you can easily see the
line(s) of descent using the Relationship Calculator. Example in my database,
if I pick Charlemagne and myself, I find 8 lines of descent and can see each on
in turn.

Another alternative is for a given ancestor you can do a Descendant Report,
with the option "Don't repeat duplicate lines" - it will indicate where those
duplicate lines have been truncated. You can also do the reversed in an
Ancestor Report.

If I understand the question, you are looking for individuals who have multiple
line of descent from a given ancestor. You can tag all the descendents of that
ancestor. Also Set Relations for that ancestor. You can then run a
Relationship Report for the ancestor with only the tagged individuals and
export it to a CSV file. Import to a spreadsheet, sort on name, and look for
those with multiple entries. If you're really good with spreadsheets, you can
even group by name and get a count of number of lines of descent for each
individual and then you could sort on that. Gets to the info you're looking
for but definitely not easy.

Your second quest is yes and it's easy. In Legacy8 the full set of 9 tags
appear on the Family View for both the husband and wife, also appear on the
Indivdual view and on the Pedigee view. Also 3 of the 9 show on the Name List.
Which 3 are shown can be selected under Advanced Tagging or Customize General
Option 1-5. An individual tag can be toggled on and off at any of the places
it is shown. There is also a set of 9 Marriage Tags that show in marriage
block of the Family View, on the Pedigree View, and on the Marriage data entry
screen. 3 of the 9 are shown on the Marriage Index screen, but the selection
is tied to the ones you've selected for the Individual Tabs.

As I'm writing this, I've noticed another minor bug. When you go to
Options->Customize->General Settings and scroll down to 1.5 Tagging Options, it
always says "Currently showing 1, 2, 3". If you go into Tags to Show, the true
current settings are displayed, and when you exit, the "Currently showing ..."
message is updated.

I need to research your first question further.

Yes, yes, I know I'm so far behind the curve it's scary, but since you've all
solved all the old problems, one of you must remember how to do these things.

Q 1: IS there an easy way to find and mark people who have more than one line
of descent from an ancestor? I know one line has some /serious/
pedigree-collapse, but I don't remember enough details to do this manually.

Q 2: CAN individuals be untagged one-at-a-time? I'm trying to work my way down
an unnecessarily (imo) long list of people for whom I still need the 1940
census data. I'd like to be able to UNtag each one I find as I find it.
