ok, pleasantly surprised by the relinker - thank you for letting me know more about each one, I think I had become quite muddled in my perception of each of them Although it did take some time to search all of my media files, even if I drank coffee or tea, I wouldnt have had time to boil the kettle by the time it was done.
What surprised me the most was that I had renamed the folder a file was in, changing the name from (Devereux) to Devereux to reflect the confirmed nature of the surname, and the relinker found the file in that folder with no trouble at all. I still wont be using the gather media, I really don't want to have all my media in one folder like with family tree maker, that's one reason why I switched, because it wouldnt let me keep my media where I wanted it, it copied the stuff to a central folder, duplicating every file and wasting space. And I'm still trying to clean up that mess and make sure I only have one digital copy of each, not 16 as I found in one case *Gah!!!* Thanks again!
