Is this a one-time fix and then you won’t be doing the interchanges any more?
You could try the Search and Replace function – search for 2 spaces and replace with 1. Would need to run at least once for each note field, extra times if there are places where there are more than one extra space. If you’ve used spaces for formatting, might have to verify each individual replacement. If you want double spaces after periods and colons, you could put those back with search and replace operations. Do you have any idea on a good way to resolve them? I know spell check will catch them, but man, with as large of a file as I have, that would literally take me months if I worked 8 hours a day. Maybe a spell checker that automatically tried to repair by removing the space before or after to see if that fixed it. I know that might add a few problems, but for the few dozen it may add, it would have fixed a thousand. Just reaching out as this is the first mention I have seen of the 'spacation' problem in many years. Thanks in advance for any help. If I export an FTM20xx file as a FTM16, Legacy imports the file with fairly little word needed. FTM now reads imports Legacy from the .db file with no gedcom involved. All that positive stuff aside, multiple transfers of data between any two programs results in what I call spacation errors - spaces randomly inserted in citations and notes (never in primary facts or places). The cause for this is the different line length each program writes into their gedcom export and our inability to set this parameter. I now use FTM2014 as a browser and enter all the data into Legacy. This works best for me.
