By Googling for the Index I found this post dated 07-01-2011 on a http://www.british-genealogy.com forum: "According to a press release on the Society of Genealogists web site, SoG data that was previously available on the Origins web site is moving to Findmypast."
Google also listed FindMyPast as a location for the Index. I will submit a problem report to have the URL changed to FindfMyPast.com. This is a subscription site so it looks like the Index is no longer available for free.
