Mary: The trick is to Edit the Event for the person in Family View, and then at the bottom of event window, choose to "Edit Event Sentence Definition", then in the top portion of the window, check the box "Exclude from Potential Problems Report", then Save, Save, Save to get back to family view.
I have done a similar thing by creating my own event name - Tombstone, etc. So, for each new type of event you create, you may have to be concerned about PP.
