User Files hold your settings.
No harm is done by deleting them apart from losing your specific
settings and returning to defaults.

There has been a major change in where these are kept.
In Legacy 7.5 and earlier they are found in the Legacy Program folder.

In Legacy 8, DO NOT delete these from the Program Folder sub-folders.

You may delete them from the Documents/Legacy Family Tree/_AppData/usr folder.
That reverts you to default values - but why not just use the Reset button?

Note another change is that the Legacy Options Customise values are
now saved in profile.dbm rather than usr files. The family file
specific ones are saved in the family file itself.

You only delete these yourself if other ways of returning to defaults
or getting rid of an error peculiar to you is not working.
