Randy, you didn't get a reply yet, so I'll take a very wild guess. If I'm wrong, which I probably am, at least your question will get to the top of the list for others to see.
My guess would be that the original which was copied to the media folder was a read only file. To check this out, find the original, highlight it, then right click to check the properties. This should tell you if it is a read only file, and if it is, you should be able to take that characteristic off.
