Hi Anne,

I sure hope you have a recent backup. Even then it could have been ages to
notice that things were wrong. It looks like the only solution is to go
through those 7500 entries and check them against a previous file. Wow, a huge
job.

Again, even a backup would only have saved you completely had you noticed the
issue straight away. I’m not sure how I would have reacted had the cleanup
stopped working. I do backups on a regular basis, using Legacy’s File/Backup
and include my media files as well. That can take some time to do. If I’m
going to do an operation that is a even a little suspect I will do a quick
backup, that is, a copy of my file. You don’t even have to close Legacy – just
go to the location of your file, right click on it, copy, then paste it in the
same folder. Now you have “filename – Copy.fdb” and it only took a few seconds.
 Cheap insurance.

Good luck.

I started getting suspicious while I was adding to the db on Sunday afternoon -
there were several with the same location and I had a feeling that they
shouldn't have been. I did a print out from the Master Locations list for that
particular location - 149 pages - 50 entries on each page!!!! :-(

And yes - come to think of it, I did attempt a Master locations list clean up.
It asked me if I wanted to see the list - yes, I did; OK............and then it
simply stopped working - "not responding". Nasty!

Now that is scary, but how would I know, unless I came across a location I knew
to be incorrect. Had you been making any changes/corrections/cleanup in the
Master Locations? Any recent Search/Replace actions?

Has anyone had a problem with Legacy V.8 unwittingly(??) altering locations? I
operate a large database and sometime over the past week, many of my locations
have been globally changed to the same location (without any obvious help from
me).

Fortunately, I can check through Legacy 7 to make necessary corrections (which
will be a time consuming pain), but I am curious to know how it could have
happened.

Any suggestions welcome.
