You can either make a COPY of your family file and move that over, or you can BACKUP your family file and restore it on the laptop. If you have been used Legacy 8 on your desktop pc you will presumably know where to save the files. What have you used to get other files from one machine to the other? - a pen drive, portable hard drive, bluetooth or what? I'd recommend you make a backup in the usual way, but backup to your external device.
