The words in the right column are from the descriptive information which
includes the location and any notes for the events. On the Chronology
tab click options > Display options
On the column widths tab you can reduce the size of the date and event
name columns (the balance of the page width will go to the descriptive
info. On the Report options tab you can turn off the timeline column and
control the width of that section.

The Page setup button on the Report options will let you set page size,
orientation and margins which will give you the horizontal space on the
page for the report.
