The default format is city, county, state, country. If you have something
below the city level, as in a cemetery name, I find it best to format it as
city (cemetery), county, state, country. Others use a dash instead of the ().
For sort order, just use right to left. If you are going to use the 5
positions, you can still use the right to left sort. If you really want the 5
positions and the sort to be State, County, City, Place, Country, then probably
best to select Generic Terms (vs US) and sort order Position 4, Position 3,
Position 2, Position 1, Position 5. If you use the 5 positions as you
currently are, you will not be able to use the Expand/Contract functions.
Expand/contract is dependent on State being in Position 3 and country (if
present) in Position 4.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Minor location sort question

SO sorry, but I have one more problem (this time, a quickie) because I'm
totally not understanding the sort function in the Locations list.
I know you all are sick of me. I'm just trying to catch up with Legacy
8 here and am not understanding a few things.

Have you ever seen Bill Cosby's Himself? If you have, remember little Jeffrey
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs0cYJUqJys)? There is a point where all the
passengers get tired of Jeffrey and he says they start to "fear" Jeffrey. I
hope that when you see my email address you all aren't fearing reading it, or
saying to yourself, "OH MY GOSH!!! I wish she would just shut up!" lol! ;)

Anyway, using my infamous Sumter location (I'm just about related to everyone
in that county so that's the most often used location, which is why I use it so
much here)...

If I create a location such as Place, Town, Sumter County, Georgia, USA and I
want it to sort like:

Georgia, Sumter County, Town, Place, USA (like Georgia, Sumter County,
Americus, Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery)

Then how is that supposed to work?

You see, this is weird:
http://goo.gl/IGSh9x

Shouldn't that be sorting as:
USA, Georgia, Sumter County...

I mean, I like that it isn't, but I don't understand the sort location list
diagram. You see, if I move Country down, then it sorts like
this:
http://goo.gl/Pb9zaj

What am I missing? Is it the way that I'm using that first blank as in Place
(the cemetery) above? How do you all handle those things? I know you can add it
in addresses, but I like seeing it in Edit view, so I do it this way.

I just want to know before I tackle my evil Location list. TIA... AGAIN...

Cindy
