No need to go to LTools for this though LTools does so some things that Legacy itself doesn't. I'm not sure how well it plays with Legacy 8.
Go to the Tools Ribbon. On the right there is an item "Other Tools" In the dropdown from that there is "Sort Child, Marriage and Events Lists" It's not obvious because it's something you'd only do once per file.
