With the cursor in the Surname box, the sort is by Surname, then Given Name(s),
then date of birth.

So all the John Does are sorted chronologically by date of birth, but John A.
Does and John B. Does will sort after all the John Does with no middle
initial/middle name. I assume that you are wanting the middle initials/names
to be ignored so that John A. and John B. will sort chronologically among the
Johns with no middle initials/names. There is no capability to do that, you
could put in a suggestion.

Rarely, I’ve seen one that seems out of order, but I find that if I go back and
clear and reenter the applicable name field on that record, then it gets sorted
correctly, so there apparently was a hidden character affecting the sort.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Name List

I just realized that when I click View>Name List and dis play a list of, say,
all the John Does in my family, they are not displayed in chronological order.

Is there a way to change that?

Thanks,

Pat
